The Carbon is a brighter take on the bluesbreaker circuit but it works fine with both these amps using a Strat or ES-345. I'm not in love with the pedal, but it doesn't sound bad by any means. I have both a JTM45 clone and a '76 JMP50 Lead spec currently setup with EL-34s. The JMP has always been louder and stiffer than I would like.
