WebON THE AVENUE, out in 1937, is watchable on many fronts. There's something very self-assured about this film. The love triangle is validated by Alice Faye's sympathetic performance, with Madeleine Carroll being charming enough and down-to-earth enough that you can see why Powell's character does fall for her.
